What We Do

Target Investment
SONG’s investment target is to invest in disruptive growth opportunities in India that are underserved by traditional investment capital. We plan to build a proprietary deal pipeline, take minority stakes, then focus on value creation by providing hands-on operational and business development help to portfolio companies. Once we are in, we view ourselves as partners with entrepreneurs, rather than financers.
“We view ourselves as partners with entrepreneurs, rather than financers.”
Our typical investment is:
Geography
India domestic market or export-oriented businesses.
Target Stage
We offer early stage and expansion capital. Ideally the revenue of the target companies is between Rs. 2.5 crores to 25 crores, serving a large, growing market. We are open to projects that are not profitable but would become profitable with an infusion of SONG capital.
Target Company
We seek companies that can scale in a capital efficient manner, have attractive growth rates, believe in strong corporate governance, have a distinct competitive advantage and are run by a talented management team. Since we are an operationally oriented team we like to be part of projects, where we have the ability to add value. We are open to projects that require handholding, such as filling in gaps in the management team, etc.
Structure
We look for significant minority stake in our investments with a requirement of a board street. We are flexible in exploring multiple ways of structuring our investments based upon the needs of the business and entrepreneurs.
Investment Size
Our investment size ranges from Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 20 crores over the life of the investment. We typically stage investments and our ideal size to start with normally does not exceed Rs 7.5 crores.
